As Associate/Technical Director of Tunnelling you will join a growing Tunnelling team working on some of the UK’s most complex and technically interesting projects across many sectors including energy, transport and water. The role will be focussed on technical leadership and delivery of projects, working collaboratively with highly skilled teams of engineers, scientists, digital specialists and designers. And you will be responsible for contributing to the growth of the tunnel design business and lead teams as well as mentor professional staff.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Director you will be responsible for managing the technical leadership of the tunnelling team

You will be responsible for the performance and development of professional staff by providing guidance, training, direction and feedback to your team.

You will be responsible for developing and driving the tunnelling specific business strategy and driving growth

Responsible for bidding and tender submissions.

You will be responsible for the timely submission of deliverables, technical checking, monitoring of budgets and commercial management of projects.

You work closely with the Board and Engineering Design Practice Lead to input into the strategic development of the company and ensure implementation of the company’s Corporate and Strategic Plan.
Requirements

Strong academic background with postgraduate qualifications in civil engineering.

Minimum of 20 years’ relevant industry background.

Chartered Status in civil or structural engineering and membership of professional bodies.

Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead tunnelling design teams.

Proven background in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.

Proven tunnelling design experience.
-
Good commercial track record.
-
Proven skills in BIM and other design software.
