Geo-Environmental Engineer: Large Geo-Environmental Consultancy with an exciting opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Engineer. This role is based in Hemel Hempstead.

Overview
Our client is a leading site investigation, contaminated land and geotechnical consultancy operating throughout the UK. They provide services to many of the UK’s leading property developers, utility providers and main contractors, house builders, local authorities and other government organisations.
You will be joining the Geosciences team in Hemel Hempstead to help it deliver consultancy and design services to a wide range of external clients including engineers, house-builders, oil companies and local authorities.

Responsibilities

Undertake Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and or/geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practice

Managing fieldwork activities and subcontractors

Supporting the project manager in planning projects including liaising with subcontractors and suppliers and preparing health, safety, environmental and quality (SHEQ) documentation

In addition to your normal duties, you may occasionally be required to undertake additional work necessary to meet the needs of the business, without additional remuneration.
Requirements

BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related subject essential

MSc in Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering or Contaminated Land related subjects preferrable but not essential

Background in undertaking desk studies, including review of geology and historical maps and other third-party data, and completing Preliminary Risk Assessments

Background in supervising intrusive site investigations, including leading fieldworks

Knowledge of SHEQ issues affecting site works

Background including managing sub-contractors, undertaking sampling and drafting laboratory schedules

Background in undertaking environmental monitoring including ground water and ground gas, and low-flow groundwater sampling

Background in preparing and assisting with interpretative reports for geoenvironmental geotechnical purposes

Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including report writing

Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office

Candidates must be willing to spend a significant amount of their working day out on site and away from home
