Great opportunity: Remediation Engineer wanted at a successful Medium-sized Multi-Disciplinary Environmental Consultancy. This role is based in Manchester.

Overview
Our client are a Multi-Disciplinary Environmental Consultancy offering a range of services including Geo-Environmental, Geotechnical, Remediation and Enabling Earthworks design to a range of high-profile clients across industry sectors such as property development, construction, investment and divestment, industrial, manufacturing, engineering, planning, energy, construction and demolition.
They are looking for a versatile, highly motivated Remediation Engineer to join their exciting and successful Geoenvironmental Division. As such, you will undertake predominately site-based work with office work also required, supporting UK-wide delivery of development schemes. As part of the Geo-environmental team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and conduct a variety of different tasks associated with remediation including environmental and geotechnical sampling, technical report writing, environmental risk assessment, and remediation validation.

Responsibilities

Desk studies and preliminary risk assessments.

Field based work undertaken across the UK with a main focus on delivering remediation projects within the North West, including:

The collection of site characterisation and validation data, including soil & groundwater sampling, the logging of soils to appropriate British Standards and undertaking suitable in-situ field testing.

The collection of environmental and geotechnical samples and management of sample collection paperwork, and scheduling for laboratory analysis and on-site testing.

The compilation of site data for factual reports, and development of interpretive reports and undertaking of generic risk assessments.

Work collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall project.

Produce project outputs (e.g. documentation, reports, specifications) and ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations and the company’s requirements, and comply with relevant national standards and codes of practice.

Develop effective working relationships with the Project Manager and with the client and ensure effective communication of progress and changes and the resolution of issues.

Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by the company, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal and company credibility in the industry.

Understanding of project finances and working to a budget.

Attendance to client meetings as required.
Requirements

BSc qualified (or higher) in Geology, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science or similar.

Minimum 4 years relevant industry background.

Entry level background of working in geo-environmental projects (i.e. remediation, contamination or geotechnical)

Ability to work both independently and within a local office-based team to deliver projects to tight deadlines and budgets.

Experience of working on site and in supervising contractors e.g. drilling teams

Capable of logging soil and bedrock to current standards.

Proficient report writer – some knowledge of Remediation Strategies and Validation Reports.

An awareness of potential risks associated with remediation sites, including health & safety, budgetary and technical considerations.

A problem solver, ready to push the boundary of their existing knowledge and learn new skills

Member of a relevant society (geological society of London, SoBRA, IES, etc)

Full clean UK driving licence (Manual), valid passport and right to work in the UK required.
